Althea E. Schneider, longtime resident of Nampa, passed away peacefully at home on July 11, 2018. She was 92.
She was born May 30, 1926, in Fitch Bay, Quebec, Canada. The family moved from this farming community to Newport, Vermont, where they operated a summer B&B on a lake.
Althea completed her education and obtained her teaching credential before becoming a faculty member at Atlantic Union College where she met her husband, Thayne, a returning World War II veteran.
The couple moved to Mountain View, California, where Althea began a 25-year teaching career. She was a gifted and beloved elementary school teacher.
Post retirement from teaching, she began working as a proof reader at the Pacific Press Publishing Association, which relocated to Nampa in 1984.
Following her retirement from the Pacific Press in 1991, she was very active in organizing and staffing the Community Service Ministry through the Nampa Seventh-day Adventist Church which provides food and clothing to those in need.
She is lovingly remembered by her three children, Melanie and her husband Layton Lui, Heidi and her husband Reggie Jackson, her son Alan, and two granddaughters, Kelsea and Tess Jackson.
