Tribute

It is with great sadness, the family of Darrin John Stewart is announcing his passing. Darrin John Stewart, 54, of Boise, Idaho passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Darrin fought a long hard battle with cancer for over 2 1/2 years. The entire time he remained the optimist and kept a positive attitude, always saying “My attitude is the only thing I can control”.

Darrin was the youngest of three siblings, born on August 2, 1967 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Denny and Judy Stewart. The family lived in Buhl, Idaho where Darrin attended school and graduated from Buhl High School in 1985. He attended First Christian Church of Buhl and was very active in the youth group. Darrin got his associates degree in Computer Drafting from College of Southern Idaho where he attended.

Darrin moved to Boise in 1987 where he went to work for CSHQA. He began his career with Idaho Power on May 28, 1991, as a Control Wiring Electrical Helper at the Boise Operations Center and held several titles throughout his career including Engineering Designer at CHQ (Corporate Head Quarters) from 1992-1996, Substation Designer at CHQ in 1996, Engineering Specialist at CHQ 1996-2005, Core Process Team Leader at CHQ 2005-2010, Stations Design Leader at Boise Plaza 2010-2015, Senior Engineering & Construction Project Manager at CHQ 2015-2016, and Customer Operations Project Manager II at CHQ in 2016, before being promoted to Project Solutions and Estimation Leader at CHQ in 2016 where he remained for the rest of his career. During his career he received many awards, got his PMP certification, and was part of the Highway Safety Committee.

In August of 1993 Darrin and Angie were married. They had two children together, Kylie and Ty. His children were his pride and joy and he was so proud of them and their achievements. Darrin’s favorite thing to do was to spend time with family and friends in his boat on the water. Summers were spent at the ski club in Hagerman, camping, doing water sports, and hanging out in Blue Heart. He loved attending all of his kids sporting events over the years. Darrin was always making others laugh with his quick wit and one liners. There wasn’t a project he wasn’t willing to take on and he was always willing to help others. If someone needed something done, they went to Darrin. Darrin was loved by many and couldn’t go anywhere without running into someone he knew.

Darrin is survived by his wife Angie; daughter Kylie; son Ty; mother Judy Stewart; sister Kaitlin DeAnn (with husband Ron Foukal); and niece Ashley Emfield and her family. He is preceded in death by his father Denny Stewart, brother Danny Stewart, and nephew Andrew Foukal.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Luke’s Cancer Institute in Meridian for their special care and friendships that developed over the last couple of years, as well as the congregation at Cloverdale Church of God for all of their love, support, and prayers.
