Eugene Johnson, 74, of Boise, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in Boise Idaho. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Cloverdale Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m.
Eugene was born in Widener, Arkansas on October 20, 1943 to Leon Johnson Sr. and Alberta Johnson-White. Eugene moved to Michigan as a teenager, spent a few years in North Carolina before he moved to Boise in 1975. He began working at Hewlett-Packard in 1977. Eugene became disabled in 1995 from syringomyelia (a rare disorder involving a cyst within the spinal cord). In his early years, Eugene played the piano for a band out of Arkansas who traveled throughout the south. Eugene enjoyed playing piano and listening to music, fishing, and cooking. Eugene loved visiting with his friends and family. He was a loving father, uncle, cousin and friend that valued his relationship with others.
Eugene is survived by longtime companion of 41 years Margarita Vargas; his three sons: Eugene K. (Lisa) Johnson, Benito (Barbara) Johnson, Maximo Johnson all of Boise; three daughters: Kimberly Blackmon of North Carolina, Tara Jenkins of Florida; Alberta Johnson of Boise; three brothers: Lee Freddie Johnson Sr., Leon Johnson Jr., and Charley Johnson; one sister Kattie (Robert A.) Monroe all of Michigan; sixteen grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren and many cousins, nephews, and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father Leon Johnson Sr.; mother Alberta Johnson-White; sister Effie Johnson-Brooks; and daughter Fatima Johnson-Brown.
