Jean Elizabeth Long

December 2, 2018

Tribute

January 20, 1930 – December 2, 2018

Jean was born in Clarendon, Texas to Lucy and Tren Stargel. She spent most of her childhood growing up at the Skirvin Hotel in Oklahoma City playing with dolls, as her dad was the Food and Beverage Manager there.

After graduating high school, she married Merle J. Long on June 11, 1948 and began a wonderful life living throughout the U.S. as Merle’s vocations dictated, including time in Anchorage, Memphis TN, Wichita KS, Chicago, Il, and Pasadena CA, San Diego CA, Sacramento, CA. After retirement in 1989, she and Merle moved to Eagle, Idaho where she lived for her remaining years.

She is survived by three sons, (Steve Long, Kenneth Long and Tom Long), 7 grandchildren (Kenneth Long, Chad Long, Tren Long, Shauna Wooldridge, Jacquelyn Flickinger, Hayley Molina and Colton Long) and 14 great grandchildren.

Jean was proud to say she never had a “real” job, and stayed at home supporting her husband and children. She was an avid doll collector, and continued that passion to her final days, amassing hundreds of dolls. She loved her art work, Japanese memorabilia, fancy shoes, and decorating her home. We remember her cheerful and supportive spirit, and she will be missed by all.
