Karen R Wisdom

December 29, 1953 ~ July 5, 2018 (age 64) 64 Years Old

Tribute

Karen Rae Wisdom, daughter of Ed and Nathelle Equals lost her year-long battle with cancer on July 5, 2018. Karen had many roles over the course of her 64 years, but her positions as a mother, wife, and friend were always the most important to her. She made friends wherever she went and was surrogate mother to more than a few people. She will be missed by her family, friends, and extensive adopted family.
Karen spent as much time as possible in recent years in Donnelly, ID riding her jet ski, picking huckleberries, and enjoying the lake with her dogs, but she also influenced many lives in the Treasure Valley as a teacher. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from University of Idaho in 1976 and worked for the Boise School District as a Home Economics and Science teacher. After taking a break to raise her children, Karen found her way back to education as a sewing, quilting, and knitting teacher. She excelled at all things crafty and loved to share her gifts with others.
Music was also a large portion of Karen’s life. She sang in the Capital Singers in high school, did harmonies in her church praise band, played a Pick-a-Little Lady in the Music Man for Boise Music Week, and most recently the McCall City Choir.
Karen is survived by her husband Mike; her children Don, Jon, Katie, Anna, Brielle, and Vicki; and her in-laws Don and Donna.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 13 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Boise.
Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Care Patient Assistance Fund at saintalphonsus.org/donations.
