Tribute

In Memory of Kenneth Alan Black “KB”
September 17, 1963 - February 25, 2024

Kenneth Alan Black, often referred to as “KB”, unexpectedly passed away at the age of 61 on February 25th this year in his home here in Boise, ID. His daughter Maddie and the rest of his family are deeply saddened by this tragedy.

KB was born September 17th, 1963 in Idaho Falls to Don and Joyce Black. He graduated from Skyline High School in 1981 and attended The University of Idaho. It was there he developed his deep love for the Vandals, he was always an avid fan and promoter of them. Go Vandals! KB lived in Ketchum and was a “ski-bum” in the best sense of the word.

KB was a beautiful man to know. He was laid back, funny, and so talented. He loved Idaho as it helped him enjoy his favorite activities like skiing, fly fishing, photography, and kayaking. He lived simply and enjoyed going on these adventures with his friends and family. He wed Christy Gregory in 1997. In 1999 they welcomed their beautiful girl Madison. Ken fell in love at first sight with Maddie, he always said she was his greatest achievement. He passed down a lot of his qualities and talents to her.

Many memories were made with his friends and family like going down the Payette River with his dad and brother. His nieces Melissa and Micayla and her family loved their Uncle Ken as well as his nephews Ryan and Josh. He was so proud of them. He traveled frequently to Denver to visit with his sister Karen and brother in-law Sean in which he always found great joy. KB always greatly cherished his time and trips spent with his sweet mother Joyce. He also loved spending time fishing with his brother Mike and his wife Susan. Anyone that had the chance to meet KB and befriend him could tell they weren’t just getting any friend but instead a friend for life.

KB did take the path that was less traveled, and it did make all the difference. Luckily all of his travels and adventures are well documented thanks to his beautiful photography.

A celebration of KB’s life will be held on Thursday, February 29th at the Heritage Social Club (5467 N Glenwood St, Boise ID) from 5-8 pm. There will be drinks and hors d’oeuvres, some of KBs favorite music, and an open mic for friends and family to share memories and stories.

Donations may be made to the “National Multiple Sclerosis Society”. “Now he can ski in the clouds and fish off the moon”. Thank You.
