Margaret Tanton

Margaret Louise Tanton, beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and for many years revered caretaker for infants of unwed girls at the Boise branch of the Salvation Army since 1973, is now with us only in spirit. The date of her passing was July 18, 2018. She was the mother of five boys, Jim, John, Charlie, Tom, and Tim, who gave her 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and a number of great great grandchildren. She was also known to many as Louise. She will be missed by all she touched.

Margaret Louise was born November 16, 1929 at the onset of the economic collapse of that year. This meant that she grew up during the Great Depression. Yet the hardships of that cruel time never diminished the quiet optimism, faith, and empathy for others that was evident throughout her long life, and which endeared her to so many people.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Cloverdale Funeral Home located at 1200 N. Cloverdale Rd., Boise, ID. Interment will follow at Cloverdale Memorial Park. A reception will be held after the services at 10017 W. Idlewood Dr., Boise, ID.
