Martha Tikker

Martha Richards Tikker left this earth peacefully and went to heaven on Thursday, November 28, 2019 in Boise, ID. She was surrounded by family, love and her favorite music.
Martha was born November 19, 1967 in Great Falls, Montana to Doug and Ruth Richards. She was raised in Montana until the family moved to Boise in 1977. She attended Meridian High School.
In 1988, she married Bob Tikker, and although they later divorced, they had two amazing children who would become the light of Martha’s life. Martha was an incredible mother who made her children’s upbringing truly special. She attended every soccer/volleyball game despite weather or distance, lugged big trays of cupcakes on a stick to the school and made every occasion special. She was fond of saying, “We’re making memories”.
Since the time she was a child, Martha had wanted to be a teacher. She attended University of Idaho and eventually received her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Boise State (although she was always a Vandal at heart)! She began her teaching career later in life and as a first-grade teacher, Ms. Tikker was much loved by her students. It was a delight to visit her classroom and see her with “her kids”.
Martha was a collector of friends. Many people she encountered in life’s everyday business became lifelong friends. She was never too busy to check in with her friends and family and no favor was too big for her. She had a smile for everyone and her laugh was the best. All who were blessed to know her, would agree that she gave the best (and most!) hugs.
Martha is survived by her daughters Sara Tikker (Garth), Laura Tikker (Skylar), parents Doug and Ruth Richards, sister Carol Wickizer (Dean), brother Doug, nieces Sasha and Katelin, nephew David and several loved cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff of St Luke’s Boise Medical Center (MICU and 4 South) for the absolutely wonderful care they gave our beloved Martha.
Her service will be held Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Eagle Christian Church (100 Short Ln, Eagle, ID 83616). A reception will follow the service. Cloverdale Funeral Home of Boise, ID is handling the arrangements.
