Robert Eugene Ridenour

Robert Eugene Ridenour  1943-2018

Robert (Bob) Eugene Ridenour was called to go home to be with our Father on September 12th, 2018. 

He was born on January 19th 1943 in Boise to Virgil and Velna Ridenour.  He was raised in Idaho and graduated from Borah High School in Boise, Idaho, Class of 1962.  On August 2nd 1963 he married the love of his life, Nola Mae Masters and was married over 55 years.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Velna Ridenour, his brothers Denny Ridenour and Marvin Ridenour, sister-in-law Angie Ridenour and daughter, Paula Joy Summers (Ridenour).

He is survived by his wife, Nola Ridenour, sister, Donna (Frank) Adcock, brothers, Ronald (Camille) Ridenour and Larry Ridenour, son, Ty (Tamie)Ridenour, daughter Mary Butz and an adopted son, Larry (Loretta) Peplow and their two sons,  his grandchildren, Cory (Shilo) Eno, Roshelle Berry, Robert Ridenour and Cody (Kayla) Richards, Danielle Summers, April Summers, Vanessa Summers, Jordan Summers, Ryan Summers and Freddie Summers, and of course many nieces and nephews and a few great-grandchildren.

Bob joined the U.S. Air Force shortly after marriage and served 26 years before retiring.  He also served with the Boise Police Department, Chief of Police in Idaho City, Lieutenant Detective with Garden City Police Department, Boise County Sheriff Department and Blaine County Sheriff Department. 

He spent lots of time with his family, going water skiing almost every weekend when his children were growing up.  He also enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, even built a huge log home by hand while living in Garden Valley, Idaho.  Bob raised his family well, ensuring they were always taken care of and being the best father a child could ever ask for.  He even had the opportunity to be Santa Claus for many years putting smiles on children from ages 1 to 100.

Bob’s biggest hobby was hot rods.  He loved cool classic cars with horse power.  Over the years he had some neat cars, once had a first generation Camaro, 52 Ford pickup, two 55 Ford pickups but the coolest ones had to be the 25 Model T C-Cab.  This was his first show winner.  After the C-cab, He had a 21 Ford Phaeton 2-door that with the help of Dave Tucker with a fantastic paint job, his son Ty Ridenour and grandson Cory Eno did the finishing touches with a mean sounding blown engine, he had one beautiful car that he showed all the time.  He would dress up as Santa and visit people.  He even displayed it outside the house with the house decorations during Christmas creating lots of drive by people stopping and taking photos.  He used to love to watch them out the living room window.  One of his favorites was his 39 Chevy 4-door with a custom license plate that read “luvbrds”.  Both Bob and Nola would drive it around having fun watching heads turn.  But like all things, the days of hot rods had to come to an end.

He was a very strong willed person who did not know how to give up.  He did all he could to be strong in every situation.  He was a great influence to all that knew him.  He believed that family and God came first and always set a positive example with everything he would do.  His word was his bond and believed honesty was the best policy. 

Bob spent his last days with his wife, brothers, sister, children and family at his side.  He wanted this day to be a day to rejoice and remember his life as he was and knowing he is now home with our Father in Heaven preparing to see us again.
