Roberta Mae Garrett, 86, of Boise, Idaho, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2020 due to natural causes.

Roberta was born September 25, 1933 in Boise, Idaho, to Laura M. and John H. Malmstrom and was raised by Laura and her stepfather Don H. Campbell. She lived and attended school in Boise where her activities included horseback riding, swimming, bowling, and playing cards. She met and started dating Homer R. “Bud” Garrett when his parents moved across the street from her mother and stepfather. Bud joined the Marines and was stationed in Oceanside while Roberta moved to El Cajon and worked in San Diego. She married Bud in 1951 in Yuma, Arizona. After Bud’s discharge from the service in Oceanside, the couple returned to Boise with one daughter. Three more daughters were born and raised in Boise. Roberta started working for the state in 1967 at the Department of Law Enforcement while attending classes at Boise State University and then moved over to the Department of Water Resources in 1972. She held several different jobs while in state employment, filing, typing, secretarial, Technical Records Specialist, and moved into data processing where she did computer programming at home. She retired from the state with 30 years of employment in 1997. After retirement, she took up golfing and had many fun days of golfing trips with Bud and their golfing buddies. They celebrated 63 years of marriage.

Roberta is survived by her daughters, Kathleen (Chuck) Saunders, Cindy (Jim) McDonald, and Becky Acree; her sister, Margaret Bradburn; ten grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer R. Garrett; daughter, Debra Lee Garrett; parents, Laura Campbell, John Malmstrom, and stepfather, Don Campbell.
