Sharon Lee VanSickle

Sharon Lee VanSickle passed away on January 16, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Meridian, Idaho, at the age of 80. She was born to May and Leif Baker in Billings, Montana, on August 2, 1942. She traveled around to many places as a child due to her dad’s job. They ended up in Pocatello, Idaho, where she graduated from Pocatello High School in 1960, and finally settled down in Boise.
Sharon married Jim VanSickle in her early 20s. They were divorced a short time later. Then in her mid-30s she married Dwayne Sharpen. She worked at Grand Central and in production at Hewlett Packard, Micron, and Jabil.
Sharon enjoyed hanging out with her friends and spending time with her granddaughter, they often spent summer mornings working together as hot air balloon crew members. She was on a bowling league in her early 20s and moved on to Bingo Nights. In her later years, she was also a member of the Red Hat Association and lucky enough to go on two cruises with her Red Hat friends, always making sure to wear purple with the infamous Red Hat. She will be remembered by her friends and family as a loving and caring person whose smile and warmth could light up a room.
Sharon is survived by her daughter Wendy Hammersmark; granddaughter, Christine Hammersmark; niece, Nancy Gardner; nephews, Richard Klink and Jeff Ewing; and many well-loved cousins.
She was pre-deceased by her mother, May Baker; father, Leif Baker; sisters, Lorraine Snyder and Vernis French; and nephew, Todd Ewing.
