As a young girl I was in awe of my Aunt Evelyn and I couldn't wait to grow up so that I too could get my hair done in a beehive and have glitter sprayed in it for the holidays. She was always put together.
A treat for us as kids was to go to Murays drive in and have her wait on us. She would get embarrassed when we would blow the straw papers off across the table. But the best part was the grab bags they had for kids to take on our way out.
Later on as I grew older we became friends and she was an immense help as my young family grew and my daughters got to know their "heavy Evie" because they found it hard to pronounce Evelyn.
Evelyn loved to play pool and her favorite places to play were the old Cresent bar and Shorty's. Often you could watch her with a pool cue in one hand a cigarette hanging out of her mouth with the ashes an inch long defying gravity, and the ashes wouldn't drop until she flicked them into the ashtray.
I hope she has found happiness, she didn't have much of it in life.
