Allen E. Jantz passed away at his home in Kuna, Idaho with his family on January 10, 2018 at the age of 66 after a yearlong battle with cancer. Al is survived by his wife Marie Jantz; his children Brian Kiester (Andy Iverson), Laura (Bryan) Nelson, Matt Jantz, Nathan Jantz, Sonia (Dan) Montgomery and Tim (Elizabeth) Kiester; his grandchildren Caleb Dekeyser, Kaiya Kiester, Lindsay Montgomery, Sylvie Nelson and Thayne Nelson; his siblings John Jantz, Ken Jantz and Lena Heikes; and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Rudolph Jantz, mother Caroline Jantz, sister Rose Hamilton and son Eric Jantz.

Al Jantz was born on May 16, 1951 to first generation German immigrant parents in Boise, Idaho. He was an avid outdoorsman, master negotiator, excel spreadsheet enthusiast and problem solver. Al Jantz was a true gentleman and instilled a high level of honesty, integrity, work ethic and respect in all of his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He cared deeply about his family and friends, and shared his love and respect for the outdoors with the people he cared most about. In his free time, he could be found hiking, mountain biking, skiing, rock climbing, camping, backpacking, picking up trash (left behind by less respectful outdoorsmen) and exploring the mountains of the Northwest. Al Jantz touched many lives, and his whimsy, wisdom and wit will be missed by all who knew him.
